Leivos’s exclusive interview with marvellous illustrator Conrad Roset!

L: Can you introduce yourself to our readers and tell us how did you get into art?

CR: Hi, my name is Conrad Roset, 26 years old illustrator from Spain. Since I was a kid, I liked drawing. I started copying DRAGON BALL (manga – author). And little by little I  started getting into the world of art and illustration.


L: Color is very important for you, isn’t it? What do you want to express by using such bright and vivid colors? 

CR: Yes, colors have to be very expressive. I like lines to be quite realistic but in contrast with colors. I like to mix colors and strengthen the effect by following no rules, no light and no anatomy. I follow my instincts and my own criterions when I’m painting.

L: Do Barcelona’s unique architecture, lifestyle and people have an impact on your style in illustration? Or may be you inspired by something or someone else? 

CR: Yes, Barcelona is cheerful, lively and nice. I try my illustrations to convey similar emotions. And of course I am very inspired by my favourite artist, Egon Schiele. I love how he drew the female figure. And especially I like the way he deformed human body, it was great!

 

L: What is the most tricky and challenging for you then you start a new project? 

CR: For me the most difficult in a new project is not to repeat, to innovate and do something different from what I’ve done, I always try to evolve in this direction. 

L: What is your key to success? 

CR: Heehehe, I don’t know! Work hard. 

L: And our special question:) Imagine that you are sweets, what kind it would be and why? 

CR: Heheh, I have no idea … one sweet? Something refreshing!
